Airport security made an unexpected discovery when a passenger's bag revealed two genuine Civil War-era cannonballs, creating a memorable travel tale.

A routine X-ray screening at an international airport took an interesting turn when agents spotted an unusual density in a passenger's checked luggage. Closer inspection confirmed that the bag contained two genuine cannonballs, believed to be relics from the Civil War era.

The items were identified as 6-pound artillery projectiles, thankfully inert and hollow, posing no immediate danger. However, carrying such historical ordnance on a flight is, predictably, not permitted. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) protocols dictate that explosive devices, even defused ones, are prohibited as carry-on or checked luggage.

Authorities swiftly removed the cannonballs, preventing them from making their way onto the aircraft. The passenger, whose identity remains undisclosed, likely had an unusual story to tell about their travel experience. It serves as a quirky reminder to double-check airline regulations, especially when packing historical curiosities.

Perhaps next time, these weighty souvenirs will travel via a different method, or simply remain on display at home.
