Workers are tackling a unique cleanup operation, removing thousands of gallons of long-abandoned fish sauce from an industrial site.

A pungent problem is finally being addressed in Newfoundland. An abandoned plant, left deserted since the early 2000s, has been the site of a rather aromatic discovery: thousands of gallons of fermented fish sauce, ripening for decades.

This colossal clean-up effort involves specialized teams carefully extracting the aged condiment. The task is undoubtedly challenging, given the sheer volume and the well-matured nature of the product. The strong, distinctive scent has reportedly lingered in the area for years, a lingering reminder of the plant's previous operations.

The removal process is a significant undertaking, requiring careful planning and execution to ensure the area is properly remediated. Once completed, the long-standing olfactory landmark will finally be a thing of the past, allowing local residents to breathe a collective sigh of relief.

Here's hoping for clearer air and perhaps a new, less fragrant chapter for the old building.
