India’s ‘Cockroach’ Protests Force Resignation of Education Minister

A youth-led movement in India has achieved a significant political victory as the country's Education Minister resigned following weeks of mass protests. The 'Cockroach Janta Party' (CJP), primarily comprised of Gen Z students, launched the demonstrations in response to widespread exam paper leaks. The movement, which utilized social media memes and slang to document police crackdowns and organize marches on parliament, has forced the Modi government into a rare public retreat regarding its education policy.

Despite the resignation, the situation remains tense. Ballistic experts have confirmed that dozens of protesters sustained injuries consistent with pellet-gun fire during the 'cockroach' demonstrations. While the CJP has officially called off its protests at the Jantar Mantar site in Delhi, student leaders maintain that their fight for systemic reform is only beginning, demanding a total overhaul of the computer-based testing governance to prevent future leaks.
