Brush Fire Blocks Southbound North Spokane Corridor at Parksmith

A brush fire beginning near Peone Road and Market Street has prompted the closure of the North Spokane Corridor southbound at Parksmith as fire crews battle the blaze.

A brush fire that started near the intersection of East Peone Road and North Market Street has continued to spread, causing significant disruptions in the area. The Washington State Patrol (WSP) has reported that the North Spokane Corridor (NSC) southbound is currently blocked at Parksmith as crews work to contain the fire.

The fire’s expansion has required heavy intervention from fire departments to prevent further damage. The smoke and active firefighting operations have forced road closures, complicating traffic in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Officials are urging the public to avoid the area to allow emergency equipment to access the site and move freely. The situation remains volatile as wind conditions threaten to push the blaze toward additional properties.

Emergency management teams are monitoring the fire closely and are coordinating efforts to protect the safety of residents. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes and expect delays, as the road blockage at Parksmith may persist while firefighting operations continue to prioritize the containment of this wildfire.
