Nirmal Purja Among 10 Missing Following Avalanche on Pakistani Peak

A major search and rescue operation is underway on Pakistan’s Broad Peak after a massive avalanche struck a group of climbers. Renowned mountaineer Nirmal 'Nims' Purja, famous for his record-breaking '14 Peaks' expedition, is among 10 climbers reported missing. The Alpine Club of Pakistan confirmed that four bodies have been located so far, though their identities have not been officially released.

The disaster highlights the increasing risks of high-altitude mountaineering as extreme weather patterns become more frequent. Rescue efforts are being coordinated with the Pakistani military, but operations have been hampered by poor weather conditions and the high altitude of the avalanche site.
