White House Bans Chinese Humanoid Robots Amid Tech Supremacy Race

The Trump administration has banned Chinese humanoid robots and is considering a massive spending boost to counter Beijing's global technological influence.

US President Donald Trump has issued an executive order banning the import of new Chinese-made humanoid robots, marking the latest front in the technological Cold War between the world's two largest economies. The administration cited national security concerns and the preservation of American leadership in robotics and artificial intelligence as the primary drivers behind the move. The ban follows allegations from White House advisors that Chinese firms, specifically Moonshot AI, have misappropriated intellectual property from American companies like Anthropic.

In a related development, the U.S. government is reportedly considering a significant increase in global spending aimed at countering Chinese influence. This "anti-China" budget would target infrastructure, technology, and diplomatic initiatives across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The move reflects a broader strategy to provide alternatives to Chinese state-backed investments and to curb the expansion of Chinese technological standards abroad.

The friction is also hitting the corporate sector. Fast-fashion giant Shein recently reported a swing to a $99 million loss, attributing the decline to the impact of U.S. tariffs. Despite these headwinds, some Chinese tech firms continue to see domestic success; a major Chinese chipmaker saw its shares surge by 470% during its recent market debut, fueled by intense local demand for AI hardware.

Beijing has responded with sharp criticism of U.S. policies, describing them as "disingenuous grandstanding" and "unilateral protectionism." Chinese officials have warned that such bans and tariffs interrupt global supply chains and will ultimately hurt American consumers. As both nations race for dominance in the "fourth industrial revolution," the divide in high-tech manufacturing and AI development continues to widen.
