Commemorative Ceremony to Honor Holocaust Victims in Roubaix

An association dedicated to preserving the memory of victims of the Second World War is organizing a commemorative ceremony in Roubaix. The organization, Lille-Fives 1942, will install 'stumbling stones'—or pavés de mémoire—in honor of Lili Keller-Rosenberg and her family.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Thursday, May 22, at the location where the family resided. These stones are small, brass-plated cobblestones installed in the pavement in front of the last self-chosen residence of victims of the Nazi regime, serving as a permanent memorial.

These markers are part of a wider international project aimed at ensuring that the stories of individual victims are not forgotten. By placing the stones at their former homes, the association seeks to ground the history of the Holocaust in the daily life of the city, forcing passersby to pause and reflect on the past.
