The Ministry of Education has launched a Master Plan to modernize physical education in schools. The project involves 22 centers across Central Serbia and Belgrade to enhance student health.
Education initiatives are taking center stage in Central Serbia, with the launch of the Master Plan project designed to modernize physical education and sports training in regional schools. This program, initiated by the Ministry of Education, involves intensive cooperation with professional coaches and physical education teachers to elevate the standard of student development.
The project currently encompasses five specialized centers in Central Serbia and an additional 17 across the Belgrade region. The core objective is to create a more integrated system where schools, local sports clubs, and government authorities work in tandem to foster healthy living habits and identify potential athletic talent at an early age.
Participating schools have reported positive initial feedback, noting that students are showing increased engagement in extracurricular sports activities. By providing teachers with better resources and training, the program aims to close the gap between traditional curriculum requirements and modern, science-based approaches to physical activity and health.
The Master Plan is also seen as a way to support the broader youth development strategy in the country. By promoting physical fitness, the government hopes to curb sedentary lifestyles among the youth population and encourage a lifetime commitment to health. As the project continues, the Ministry plans to evaluate the results from the initial centers to determine how to scale the initiative across more schools nationwide.
