St. Charles County Police Terminate Flock License Plate Reader Program

St. Charles County Police have officially discontinued their use of Flock license plate reader (LPR) technology. The decision comes after an internal review revealed instances of employee misuse of the system, prompting the department to take all 28 cameras offline.

The technology was originally implemented as a tool to assist officers in tracking vehicles involved in criminal activity. However, officials determined that the potential for misuse and the compromise of data security necessitated a complete cessation of the program.
